A quest for the perfect and inexpensive sulfate free shampoo

I have been a HUGE fan of sulphate free shampoo’s shortly after  L’Oréal came out with their line of EverPure shampoos.  When I made the switch to sulfate free, the overall health of my hair and scalp was better.  I saw a huge reduction in the flakes and dry scalp and my hair was softer and shinier than I’d seen it in a long time.  My hair color lasted almost twice as long as before.  However, despite my love for the products, the cost of Loreal is somewhat steep, as with any sulphate free shampoo.  Between $6-$8 dollars for 8.5 fluid ounces, I began a quest to find something to help me save money.

The first shampoo and conditioner I tried in my quest was from Organix.  I HATED it.  I have never had my hair feel so dry and straw like before.  Even after lightening it with bleach.  I tried a few different formulations and they all left my hair feeling horrible.  I experienced a crazy amount of breakage while using these products as well, despite not doing anything to chemically treat my hair.  I still have the half used bottles sitting under the sink and will eventually throw them away I’m sure.

So I went back to L’Oréal.  I knew I liked it and loved the scent so I was willing to pay the price for it.  Then I went and got a fantastic haircut at a mall here in the cities.  The girl there asked what I used to wash and condition my hair and I told her.  She suggested I give the Regis brand sulfate free.  It was nice but lacked the wow factor I got from the Loreal.  At and more money for less product, I wasn’t convinced.  However, I did use all the product up since it seemed to not damage my hair the way the Organixx did.

Once I ran out of the Regis, I again returned to the tried and true L’Oréal.  Then walking down the isles of my local Walmart at 11 o’clock at night after getting off work, I saw a new brand.  Simply U offered a small selection of shampoos and conditioners, which are sulfate and paraben free.  Since I color my hair, I selected the formulation for colored hair.  At about $6 for about 6 more ounces of product that what I get from L’Oréal I was willing even more excited to give it a shot.

Let me just say this.  LOVE LOVE LOVE!!  I am totally in love with this shampoo and conditioner.  The price is nice but it makes my hair feel AMAZING!!  The product smells great and the larger sized bottles are a handy pump.  I love not having to deal with opening bottles.   So if you are wanting to try a sulphate free shampoo and the price of the products has always made you cringe just a little, you should definately give this a try.  I don’t recall seeing a deep conditioner, so I will continue to use the L’Oréal Everpure deep conditioning mask on those days I feel I need more moisture but otherwise, I think that Simply U has found a new devote.
