Your positive thoughts and prayers are needed!!

There is a woman whom I have known since my sophomore year of high school going through a moment that needs your prayers and positive thoughts.  She and her husband are in the process of adopting their second child.  They recently thought that they had received a placement but at the last-minute, things fell through for a number of reasons.  The newborn baby boy that they were to be placed with will end up in the foster care system or with a random family member if his mother doesn’t make some very difficult decisions soon.

The baby boy’s birth mom is in such a delicate mental state and her doctors are trying to get her stabilized on her medication. But the laws in their state say that she has to sign a consent to the adoption before he goes into foster care. And if she doesn’t sign he could go to an obscure family member even if he IS placed with my friend‘s family for foster care.  They really want her to be stable enough to sign the necessary documents this week as an open adoption with a stable family would be best for everyone involved in the situation.

My friend and her husband already have 1 child through open adoption and they want to be able to give this baby boy with the same loving wonderful environment that their first son has.  They want to give him an open adoption so he has the opportunity to know his birth family.

I really felt a need to share this and get some people praying for this baby boy and for his mother and for my friend as well.  I emailed her and asked her it was ok to post a bit about her story and share it with my Facebook friends and family.  After receiving her ok, I wrote this message.

No matter what religion you follow or what God or Gods you believe in or don’t believe in, can you please keep the people involved in this situation in your thoughts and/or prayers so that what is best for this baby boy, his birth mother and for my friend and her family.   I really hope that what is best for everyone involved happens and that this baby boy who needs a loving and caring home with the right family that is  able to provide him with everything he needs, including a relationship with his birth family.   Ideally, this would be my friend, her husband and her son but I also understand that sometimes different things are meant to happen differently.  I just truly hope that the birth mother does what is best for her son.

Until next time,

Sarah
